I seriously doubt that your friend is doing acupuncture on himself. He may have meant acuPRESSURE. It is a manual form of acupuncture. If your headache is tension-related you can try these acrupressure techniques:
Using the palm of your hand and the flat-surfaces of your fingers (i.e., not the tips), firmly grip the meaty part of the back of your neck. Hold that grip for about a minute and SLOWLY release.
Then using the same type of grip, grasp the muscles that go down both sides of the neck to the tops of the shoulders (called the trapezius). Again hold for a minute and slowly release.
